The project Miguelita is a collaborative work with designer Giuliano Ridolfo. We are working on a lounge chair for exterior which began with the deconstruction of industrial and artisanal lounge chairs. We think that design today, requires products which tell a story, and our story is the collaboration between the artisan and the insdustry.
It is easy to replicate an industrial chair many times by creating processes which allow for easy replication. On the other hand, replicating artisanal products takes time and skill in order to achieve similar results. We thougth that by combining these two characteristics, we could find a midway for the lounge chair. Miguelita is a chair that feels artisanal, yet may be recreated easily once the structural elements are produced. The chair thus belongs to a mixed aethetic, dictated by
the combination of two production methods.
Currently we are in the prototype phase, where we are 3D Printing scale models as well as working with artisans to find the right fit for the chair.
Upcycling Perception
2020
Thesis ProjectFor more than 10.000 years humans have planted and harvested hemp. It is not until the 20th century that the material meets a standstill as legislation prohibited its production.
During the last decade the material is slowly resurfacing giving designer the possibility to produce in a more sustainable way. Hemp grows in almost any climate and requires very little care, furthermore it’s yield of material per pound is very efficient. The Swedish company Trifilon, took advantage of this plant and is producing composite plastic pellets made out of hemp.Upcycling Perception or UP is a dining room collection which reintroduces the aesthetic success of plastic during the 60s, round and long curvatures attempt to evoke a retro look which was popular in its day. The collection attempts to draw from this aesthetic current yet in a more sustainable way by using trifilon plastics.
The collection adapts to both interior and exterior, it features a dining table in 2 sizes, for 5px and a bistrot table. The chair may be costumized with an upholstered seat, or a plastic seat for exterior use. A costumizable zipper Pending light

no butts.
2020
no butts. is a project that tackled the issue of cigarette butts littering. During a party on the beach, I spoke to a girl who was also concerned about the issue and as a smoker, she would save the cigarette filters on the cellophane blister that wraps the bottom part of the cigarette box.
It got me thinking about the potential addition of a filter holder which let smokers hold on to their butts if they didn’t have a place for them to dispose filters responsibly.
This project consists of an additional cardboard box which serves as a compartment to hold on to those butts if you cannot find a place to dispose of the filters. Fortunately, this project caught the attention of Rossana Orlandi’s Guiltless Plastic contest on 2020 and was exposed in the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science in Milan.
Juul
2020
Juul means reflection in Mayan. The project is a concept wall lighting solution for exteriors which adapts to the environment by becoming the environment. A concave mirror inverts and reflects the setting in which the lamp is mounted, making it versatile and giving a surreal essence to the space it is installed in.
The project's inspiration rises from the mystical peninsula of Yucatan Mexico, a place that for thousands of years has been an unresolved mystery. I wanted to portray the element of the unknown by creating distorted reflections that would attract people to see the lamp from different angles, and as they change the angle the lamp's identity transforms.
Orizaba
2019
Orizaba is a lamp that resembles the lava of a volcano. The idea of this product is to have a dark lamp with a pigmented porcelain cylinder which gets iluminated by a LED ring.
The lamp is made in a slipcasting mold and uses dark Oaxacan clay, a material used for many kinds of artisanal products in southern Mexico.
